Meet the team

Behind Boomerang is a team of makers, mentors and community champions who bring our workshops and projects to life. Get to know the people who share their skills, stories and passion for creativity and sustainability every day.

  • Freya

    DIRECTOR

    Freya started at Boomerang in 2022, and helped transition the project into an independent workshop in 2023. She’s responsible for most of the admin, but you’ll see her teaching and making around the workshop too!

  • Owen

    DIRECTOR

    A retired cabinet maker, Owen’s been involved in Boomerang since 2011, starting out working here in the evenings to turn recycled wood into furniture. He’s always about sharing his skills with others!

  • Alistair

    DIRECTOR

    Alistair, a long-time volunteer came on board when Boomerang became an independent project in 2023. Famous for his plywood lamps, he’s your go-to for quirky projects.

  • Sofia

    COMMUNICATIONS AND ENGAGEMENT OFFICER

    Sofia started working with Boomerang over the summer through the University of Glasgow’s ‘Find a Solution’ programme, and now leads our communications, managing our social media presence, helping with workshops/events and working with our volunteers and local community.

  • Anna

    DIGITAL EXPERIENCE AND MARKETING COORDINATOR

    Anna is a woodturner and maker turned web designer who leads all digital design and creative direction for Boomerang’s website, bringing their values to life and making the workshop more accessible to everyone.
